Keeping Users First!

Understanding the users is the key to crafting thoughtful, effective and delightful experiences for them. Making a difference in their daily lives by solving for their goals/needs and providing tools that enable them to function efficiently leads to overall user satisfaction. I strive to communicate the objective of products through well thought-out design solutions which leads to clear and effective designs.

Empathize & Understand

It all begins with understanding the ”Why” behind coming up with a product solutions. Why do users need it? What goals are we helping them fulfill? What are their expectations? How can we make the experience worth their investment?

Ideate & Prototype

Making product vision a tangible reality takes an intentional and thorough process. Doing market research and competitive analysis, getting inspired by creative ideas and converting them into solution ideas that are functional, accessible and easy to use makes the ideation process the best part about being a designer. All this while keeping in mind the business goals to achieve as well.

Test & Iterate

How do you know what you designed really works? I’m always thankful to users who take the time to participate in user testing with us. We learn such valuable insights that would have otherwise remained unvalidated assumptions. The feedback allows us to further refine our ideas. We can be collectively more confident that the product/feature will be a success.

Empathize & Understand

In order to learn more about our users, I like to begin with user research. Typically involving the Product Owner, Engineers and Designers, I help conduct contextual inquiry, surveys and user interviews to gather qualitative and quantitative data about our users. I then like to take all that information to conduct a persona workshop to help establish a user-centric mindset for the product team.

Ideate & Prototype

Understanding the competitive landscape is important when thinking of the solution. Once we have good insights in this area, I like to put together a mood board for inspirations within and outside the industry we’re targeting. Moving into prototyping, I carefully assess the balance between creative solutions and established interaction patterns and web standards. Using tools like Adobe XD, Figma and Sketch I’ve created prototypes that represent the facade of our solution and help us test the idea before investing time developing it.

Test & Iterate

I have conducted both in-person and remote usability tests. I have preferred to conduct moderated think-aloud tests so we can observe reactions and also follow-up with questions at the end of the tasks. We take the learnings back and iterate on our designs.
